Interview to happy owners of a Holiday Home

Gill and Antonio Quiñones from Gothenburg, Sweden. Happy owners since May 2013 of a Holiday Home in Costa Blanca Spain. A two bedroom upstairs apartment with sun terrace at the Urbanisation Entre Naranjos, near Vistabella Golf Club.

Why did you decide to buy a house in Spain?

We always dreamed of getting a holiday home in Spain when we retired. I, Gill, have Rheumatoid Arthritis and the warm weather is so good for me! Antonio is from Montevideo, Uruguay. Therefore with the Spanish language in the family already, and only 3 ½ hours flight away from Gothenburg, Sweden, Spain felt like a natural choice. Antonio lived in Alicante for 2 years, when he was 18 years old, before he moved to Sweden. so that made us look closer into Costa Blanca.

How did you find the Atlas purchase process?

We found Atlas International in 2012, when we were searching for houses on the Internet, just for fun, and we subscribed to the mailing list. Didn’t find any properties that were within our budget, or our liking, but we kept on looking. Suddenly we saw one that we liked. When the “Köpa Bostad Utomlands” (Buy property abroad exhibition fair) came the following year 23-24 February 2013 at Svenska Mässan Gothenburg, we went there.

What was the main factor that made you buy with Atlas?

Being on the Atlas International mailing list, it felt good to go directly to them and speak to them. Atlas International has an office in Mölndal, (Gothenburg Sweden) and they were there, at the exhibition fair. The staff helped us a lot, and explained how the procedure works. Learning that you can go down to the place, and look at properties, made it very interesting for us, and we decided to look into it more closely.

We had to wait a bit, to find more properties, than the one we found, and it made us a bit nervous that it could be sold. We went to the bank to have everything cleared up, before we decided to book our trip. After having closer contact with Atlas in Sweden, we finally found a few more properties to look at, and booked our trip in the first week of May 2013.

We felt very well taken care of once we arrived. We stayed at a Hotel just by the beach. They planned everything, and we felt very welcomed. We went around a lot in Torrevieja and got to know the area around it quite well. We went to different restaurants in different areas.

After looking around we finally got to see OUR home, and we fell in love with it straight away. It was just what we were looking for! A two bedroom upstairs apartment, with a sun terrace, with a stunning view! Being up on a hill we can see the Torrevieja salt lakes and the Mediterranean Ocean, as well as the beautiful view over the mountains, and all the Orange Trees. So fantastic!

After we decided to buy, Atlas International helped us with everything, and it felt so safe.

What advice would you give someone thinking of buying a property in Spain?

Make sure of what you are looking for. What is important for you to have, and what you can be without? Don’t rush into it! Also make sure to stay within your budget. There are other costs, not only for buying your new home. So better stay safe.

What is your favourite thing of living in the South Costa Blanca?

The weather for sure! The people who live there, and the lifestyle of what living in Spain brings. A lot of little Spanish villages everywhere and there is a lot to see. It is more outdoors living than we are used to in Sweden, and it feels great! The Spanish people are so open and friendly. A lot of people from England live in our neighbourhood and everybody has been so helpful.

Advice for every one is:

Go for your dream, but make sure of what you are looking for, and you will not be disappointed!
